Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 2026
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They help the site remember information about your visit, such as your preferences, so things work better next time. Similar technologies — including browser local storage and session storage — work in the same way and are covered by this policy.
2. Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies to keep Growing Legacy running smoothly, to remember your preferences (such as whether you've acknowledged the age gate), and to understand in broad terms how visitors use our games and pages. Our cookie use is minimal and focused entirely on the free-to-play experience we offer.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keep the site running. Stores your age-gate acknowledgement and cookie-consent choice so you're not asked on every page. | __age_ok, __cc_v1 | Session – 12 months. No consent required. |
| Performance / analytics | Anonymised traffic measurement to help us understand which pages and games are most popular. Data is not linked to you personally. | Cloudflare Web Analytics (__cf_bm) | Up to 30 days. Set only with consent. |
| Functional | Remembers UI preferences such as volume settings on game widgets and previously accepted prompts, so your experience stays consistent across visits. | Local storage keys for game widget state | Up to 12 months. Set only with consent. |
| Advertising / targeting | The site may carry third-party advertising cookies when you arrive via a paid campaign (e.g. Google Ads or Microsoft Advertising). These cookies help those platforms measure the effectiveness of their campaigns. They do not enable us to serve ads directly to you. | Google Ads (privacy policy), Microsoft Advertising (privacy policy) | Up to 13 months. Set only with consent. |
4. Lawful Basis (UK GDPR + PECR)
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), strictly necessary cookies are placed on the basis of legitimate interest — they are essential to deliver the service you've requested and do not require your consent. All other cookie categories (performance, functional, and advertising) are set only after you give explicit opt-in consent via our cookie banner. You can withdraw that consent at any time by following the instructions in Section 5 below.
5. How to Manage Your Cookies on Growing Legacy
When you first visit the Site, our cookie banner offers you two options: Accept all (sets all cookie categories) or Essential only (strictly necessary cookies only). Your choice is saved in localStorage.__cc_v1. To change your preference at any time, clear that key in your browser's developer tools (Application → Local Storage) or clear all site data for growinglegacymovie.com — the banner will reappear on your next visit.
6. How to Manage Cookies in Your Browser
You can also control cookies directly in your browser settings. Links to instructions for the most common browsers:
Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Site from functioning correctly.
7. Third-Party Cookies and Services
When you give consent, the following third parties may set cookies or access data through the Site:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — provides hosting, security (DDoS protection), and anonymised web analytics. Cloudflare's cookies (
__cf_bm) help distinguish legitimate traffic from bots. Cloudflare Privacy Policy. - Google LLC — advertising cookies may be set if you arrive via a Google Ads campaign. These help Google measure ad performance. Google Ads Privacy & Terms.
- Microsoft Corporation — advertising cookies may be set if you arrive via a Microsoft Advertising campaign. Microsoft Privacy Statement.
8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a withdrawal of consent for analytics and advertising cookies — only strictly necessary cookies will be set. We do not currently have a technical implementation for the older Do Not Track (DNT) header beyond this GPC handling.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to check back periodically.
